The 2013 Cross-Strait soil and groundwater pollution prevention and remediation technology seminar was held on Aug 1st, 2013 in Kunming. Directors and officers of MEP, CRAES and China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) were present at the opening ceremony and delivered important speeches.
Vice Minister of MEP Wu Xiaoqing pointed out his opinions in his report: Environmental protection was the basic and main aspect of ecological civilization construction. We should employ new ideas and methods to protect the environment in a integrate way and to solve the environment problems, and advancement in technology was extremely necessary. The innovation of environmental science and technology would make clear the basic goals, help in balancing long-term objective and emergent tasks and researching significant problems and scientific laws. Only through innovation can we make breakthroughs on key technologies and develop the industry to pursue an ecological civilization. He specially stated that strict regulations and policies will be neededto promote the industry including groundwater and soil remediation.
In the afternoon of Aug 1st, the “Cross-Strait soil and groundwater pollution prevention and remediation technology seminar” organized by CECDADI was held at the same time. Experts from Taiwan and Mainland China changed opinions on four topics, namely, policies and trends, industry and practices, investigation and remediation technology progress, and groundwater remediation technology and practices. During the seminar, general manager of CECDADI, Mr. Zhang Wenhui presented an informative speech on the practices and experiences in domestic remediation market and was highly agreed by experts at the seminar. Mr. Zhang Wenhui also hosted the “investigation and remediation technology progress” section. In this section, experts from two sides of the strait delivered their reports on both case studies and technology progress, which brought to a successful end for the seminar.
